Hello I am Rachel Burrell a memeber of the McKee Hamilton line.My gggggrandfather was John D. Boyd.In a letter written to my family by someone by the name of Clyde McKee.If this might help us figure out where to go I would appreciate any help in tracing our lines together.
Alexander McKee fought in the Revolutionary War but we haven't his service record.Family tradition has it that 7 Mckee brothersScotch-Iris, came over to America in the 1700's all settling and founding McKeesport , Philidelphia.They came from Northern Ireland and were PresbyterriansAnna McKee Boyds Parents died leaving several children of whom Anna was the eldest, being only 16 years old; at 18 , she went into court to have her minority removed, so that she could manage the family estate-becasues the trustee or manager was squandering it.My grandmother, thought that "sister Ann" was a most wpmderfi; [erspm gramd,a was one of the younger children they were sisters.

D. 1785 Settled in Sumner Co. Tennessee.He had 6 sons and 3 daughters Mary, Nancy and _ _ given name unknown Sons 1. Alexander married Miss Braiden, lived and died in Maury County Tennessee.2. John and his wife lived and died in Bedford Co. Tennessee Died of Cholera 3. Jacob McKee and wife lived and died in Middle, Tennessee 4. Thomas Mervin McKee was born in North Carolina Feb 23, 1790 and emigrated with his father to Tenn, in 1785, married Miss Frances Lessenbury Stone of Virginia, English Birth Her father and also the father Of Thomas McKee fought as soldiers in the Revolutionary war(Note Thier son Thomas Newton Mckee dictated these notes) 5.Samuel McKee married a miss Paul, Lived iand died in Maury County Tennessee. Buried in Salem Cemetery 6. James McKeewas born in Sumner County Tennessee Married Miss Mary Parks, Emigrated to Arkansas thence to Missouri, Where he lived and died. 7. Jacob McKee son of Alexander McKee married a Miss Hamilton There were the parents of Anna McKee whose son John Gordon D. Boyd was your grandfather, Palmer.Since Thomas Mervin was born in North Carolina in 1790, possibly it was with the N. Carolina troops that his Father, Alexander, fought in the revolution.
