The following is part of a letter written in 1831:
1831 Peaircy (Percy)/Crook Letter State of Tennepee (Tennessee), Wilson county to Cainsville Post office to Mr. Shurwood Peaircy fromCarrollton, Ill. May 4th. Dear father mother brothers and sisters this lines leves us all well. Hoping that may fine you all in the same state of health. I have nothing strang to wrigh at present. I can inform you that we landed saftly in greene county and are well. Signed. So nothing more at present. Signed peaircy and Catherine Pearicy
Note: The letter contained a red wax seal that was broken and removed when opened. Carrollton, Ill. Is located just north of Alton, Ill. Near the Mississippi river which is about 50 miles northeast of St. Louis, Mo. Part of my research leads me to believe both families moved from Tennessee to Illinois and on toMissouri and possibly, Arkansas. More research to follow.
All of the above was recently shared with me by Mr. Crook who is researching his McKee, Crook , Pearcy (various spellings), etc.Your Pearcy in Ilinois might be the same family.Just thought to pass it on to you in case it might help you or Mr. Crook or me.You should be able to reach him at the above email address if you want.(;-)
