Hoping to find any info regarding Joseph S. McKee (b. abt. 1832), the second husband of Naomi (nee Renfrow) Allen (b. abt. 1834).
Naomi Renfrow’s first husband was Josiah Allen, who enlisted on the side of the Union and died of fever at Rolla/Houston, MO, in 1862. They had four daughters: Ritter Amanda (b. 1853), Sarah Elizabeth (b. 1855), Mary Letitia (b. 1858) and Susan Francis (b. 1862).
After Josiah Allen’s death, per his pension records, Joseph S. McKee became the legal guardian of the four girls, and eventually married their mother, Naomi Allen, in January of 1869. Don’t know yet if Joseph S. McKee was previously married or if he had any children by a previous marriage.
One of the daughters, Mary Letitia Allen, married in Wright Co., Missouri and settled there, but it appears that Joseph and Naomi McKee moved away from MO with the other three daughters. Unfortunately, Joseph and Naomi seem to vanish at this point, and I’ve had no luck tracking them or any of the other daughters down. Cannot find on census for some reason, or any other documents so far. Have been told anecdotally that Naomi may have died in TN, but cannot confirm this.
Any info regarding what became of Joseph, Naomi, and his three stepdaughters would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. (Best email: firstname.lastname@example.org )
PS: Joseph may have served with the MO 6th Regiment Infantry Volunteers, but this is not confirmed.
