You have two John McKees mixed together. The one I was referring to was born in 1771. His parents were John and Esther Houston McKee. George Wilson McKee states, incorrectly, that this John was never married and was a Senator from Alabama. He actually did serve three terms in Congress, but was never a Senator. He was married to an Indian, probably a Choctaw, and had one son who is noted in his will. He owned a plantation in Tuscaloosa Co. (later Greene), where he died in 1832.
