I am only looking at the McKee's of Mckeesport plus the other families living in Mckeesport in the mid to late 1700's. Then I am only looking at the people actually buried at Versailles Cemetery in McKeesport.I will go to St Mary's, St Joseph's and Fairview if I know someone buried at Versailles also has relatives buried at those other Cemeteries.
I know some of my Myers family took off to Canada during the Revolution because they were against the Revolution. If you follow Christopher Gist line back to Baltimore, I think you might understand why. These families were very close to the Fairfax family of Thomas Lord Fairfax who was very English. They are also tied to Thomas Lee the President of the Ohio Company.May people say without the Lee family there would have not been a Revolution. The Lee family has a long standing connection to the Pittsburgh area.Robert E Lee's father General Harry Lighthorse Lee had his 1794 Whiskey Rebellion Headquarters in Mckeesport.General Lee's description of the location matches the location of the Tube Works.
I know Jacob Myers was one of the suvreyors with George Washington and Christopher Gist when they visited Queen Alliquippa New Years Eve 1753.Then Gist family are related to the Gratz family who are related to the Myers family.
Source on that is Americans of Jewish Decent by Malcolm Stern.
Again I have Samuel Washington's personal collection of books that I can refer to.Samuel Washington was George Washington's full brother. He was married to Dolly Madison's cousin.
So I am very serious about this and I have very solid records to back me up.Maybe in 1858, someone decided that John Mckee was the Founder of Mckeesport and also decided to inscribe that on his new stone when they moved him from the old cemetery.
