Hi, Paul,It's been awhile; I've been taking a breather, but am ready to go at it again.Have you had any developments to show who Samuels father may have been?Or who may be Davids bro.?Definitely, I think Andrew is, and his family was so near.I am looking at William, with Margaret being his wife, as you suggested.I don't see much of him in my records, howeverI have been about convinced that my Samuel is not son of David, but a nephew, and a brother of Capt. Robert McKee, wife Elizabeth (not Susanah), both of Hempfield Twp.We must remember Allegheny had not yet been formed fromWestmor. Co.Robt., son of David, drowned, I read, in 1782 and his administrators are in Westmor; Susanah, David & Robert.
Now I see on LDS that it has been posted Samuel is a son of David, and David is son of Thomas.I believe he is son of Ester and John McKee, Ireland. Also, that David and Andrew were the only family members who came over.
I want to go on the record after lots of study, that I believe Saml. died 1780 with 5 minor children (David having died before 1814, maybe a minor.)That left Saml., thought to have md. Nancy McConnel
and her bro. md. his sister.Another bro., Robert died w/children.Lyons, Pierce & Patterson also md. his kids.
In 18l4 the widow, Margaret now Veasy
sold her farm at a partition and it was bought by Saml McKee and an unknown John McKee.
Another writer believes t hat Capt. Robert is father of Samuel and to complicate things, he too, died in 1814, testate, leaving his farm to widow and 9 children-- all but one with the same names as Samls. but Sams family have marrd. names typed in, and Robts. children are shown with same md. names.
Robert says the estate will b e divided into 10 parts; Sam's family has only 5, and the land description seems different to me.
Hope to hear that you have been enlightened by news of Samuels father.
