I have recently seen lists of Descendants of David,d1710Icannot trace him to a definite set of parents.I feel certain these records are incorrect; I will try to set them straight, according to info from Court records in Westmorland, Hempfield Twp.1. These records show David's son to be ROBERT, d 1813, in Westmorland, wife-Elizabeth. Fact; This is another Robert, known as Capt. Robert.
2. It shows his minor children to be, with married names, the same children as my Samuel McKee, who d.1780, wife Margaret, in Westmor. The two men were neighbors and rode together in Revol. and indian fights. As with most McKees, their children had about the same names. My Saml. died intestate, and his land stayed with the widow until sold in a Partition,1813, bought by Saml., Jr. & a unk. John. That same year, Robert McKee died; I have his will. The land went to his Saml. and John, sons, and belongings to wife, Elizabeth, and 4 girls, 10 equal shares but showing the same heirs as my Saml. except no married kids. The two court proceedings must've been mixed-up.
3.Actually, ROBERT, son of David, and brother of JOHN, (founder of Mck.Port.), had wife, Susanna.` Robert died 1782 in
AlleghenyHis father, David, not til 1795, about the time John was going belly-up because of papers he signed for a business deal with his bro-in-law, Judge John Hoge Redick.
Davids Will names ROBERT and Susanna's sons, David and Robert, as heirs, but not girls,Elizabeth who mard. Saml. Sinclair and Mary, md. Hugh Torrence.
4. As for THOMAS, b1749,not much certainty, it seems.Died about 50ae.
Most likely report is he had no kids, and his large land holding next to his father, I believe, was sold to Thomases sister, Mary, recently md. to James Peebles. They became prominent land holders. But my other reports show Thomas, wife unk., had 9 kids, md. into Shiller, Brison & Carsons. Youngest was Katie, b. about 1793.
5.My Samls. children are credited here to David's Robert and wrong wife (Elizabeth), but the mard. namesof my Samls. kids are
Wm. Lyons, Nancy & John McConnel, Wm. Lyons, and Pierce.
I would welcome hearing from you ifI am mis-representing facts.Donna
