I am doing research on a small section of Allegheny Cemetery in Pittsburgh with the center point being Union General Alexander Hays.Union General Alexander Hays' unit was the the major defender of Picketts Charge at Gettysburg. He was killed at the Battle of the Wilderness May 5 1864. His son, Gilbert Adams Hays, wrote a book about the unit titled Under the Red Patch the story of the Mckeesport 63rd.
Facing the front of the Hays monument, to the right at about 30 ft is Reade Washington born May 28 1796 married to Elizabeth Sterrett monument and to the left about 30 ft is Thomas McKee born Sept 18 1800 and his wife Hetty Zillhart born Oct 19 1809 monument.
The McKees have a rather very large family with over 20 memeber buried in the lot. The Morgans of George O Morgan born 1847 are also in the lot.
The McKee family is a big name in Old Pittsburgh with Mckees Rocks named after Alexander McKee and/or his father Thomas McKee and McKeesport named after John McKee.
What's interesting is the Zillhart name does not come up on any searches.
Then according to the Pittsburgh Social Register of 1877, General Alexander Hays' wife was related to President John Adams.
