Nice to meet ya.My husband, Doug McKee, has TN kinfolks from Rutherford Co TN from about 1800 until even now I suspect. Some went to Missouri in the 1840-1850s.Some to West Tennessee in the 1840s.Doug's 3xgreat uncle Joseph (Joe) McKee married a Bizzell lady (about 4-5 Bizzell and McKee marriages at Hardeman Co TN) and moved to Lauderdale Co TN and another brother John Henry McKee moved to Tipton Co TN for the rest of his life dying the 1930s.Joe McKee had some kids that went to California and I know one place was Redondo Beach and another had family buried at Kings something or other, fails to come to mind right now.Have it on hard copy somewhere. Some of James Henry's kids first went to TX and then on to CA but not sure of where.
Probably most places in TN have turned out to have had McKee at one time or the other in the 1800 era before many moved on West and lots to TX.Maury County, Williamson County were also big for McKee.Dyer Co Tn, also in West TN, was where another xxxgreat uncle of Doug moved ca 1860, this being John McKee who was married to Louisa Foster as his 2nd wife, first having been a McKinney at Hardeman Co TN in the 1850s.There were a number of other McKee families at Dyer County along about the same time and were allied with Reagan among others.Still another brother of the xxxgrandfather William Thomas McKee Sr moved to Haywood County TN.
If you would like me to check the census for your TN relative and you can give me a full name and some details as you can think of them perhaps I might find some clues for you.
We have a fair sized McKee, MacKie, MacKey and Surname Variations yDNA Group at Family Tree DNA and if you would like to know more about that I would be happy to post further details.
Post any specifics you have and some of us on this forum will surely be able to help you find TN kinfolks.
