Does anyone have any information on the James McKee that is queried about in this 10 year old message?
I noted on the Poster's History of messages the surname FLATT and I know that at Dyer Co TN the FLATT and the MCKEE were connected.Bedford Co TN had----near Bell Buckle at one time-----three men named James McKee and they were from Lincoln Co NC and maybe Mecklenburg Co NC.The county line location for Rutherford Co TN and Bedford Co TN was said to have been "running over with McKee from western NC".
I have a "lost" John McKee and his 2nd wife, Louisa Foster McKee, and their numerous children who were on the 1880 census at Dyer Co TN with a niece and nephew named Herrron / Herrin living with them. They were probably somehow allied to the FLATT folks as I have seen some trees online that also claim same kinfolks as Hardeman Co TN McKee does.
I would like to know what happened to them after 1880.Are any descendants online?
The above John McKee was a great-great uncle to my husband.John was born at Rutherford Co TN to Ambrose and Martha McKee who moved to Franklin Co AL ca 1833 and then on to Hardeman Co TN sometime after 1840 census.John first married a Zilphia MCKINNEY ca 1855.Following her death he married next door neighbor and sister-in-law, Louisa McKinney, Louisa's brother married John's sister, Frances McKee, just around the time of the 1850 census. They were in MS and then said to have gone to Texas but I have not searched for them in MS or TX.The Herron/Herrin were most likely related to Ambrose McKee's aunt Martha McKee who married Isaac Herron at Mecklenburg Co NC and also moved to Rutherford Co TN after being in KY for a short time and then moved on to Panola Co MS where they lived the remaining years of their lives.Martha McKee Herron's brother, William McKee, was always adjacent to Isaac Herron in MS.
I have been able to verify this early searching with census data as it has later become available. The earlier work and research has all proven to be true and correct.
Would be good to hear from any descendants.Linda McKee
