Well, it is not impossible but based on all that is written about our Colonel Alexander McKee, I haven't seen any written claim that he was in NC.
The Alexander McKee of Mecklenburg Co NC that bought out Mr. Stevens is an enigma.
He reportedly married Mary Knox, the only daughter of John Knox, and secondly, after her death married a Blair that he also outlived and was still involved with the settlement of her estate at his death in 1797.I have posted his LW&T on this board and posted several times here about him and his children.
I have seen two versions of his coming to Mecklenburg area. One says he actually came with the Knox and other early pioneers in the 1750s I believe.I think he may be related to Louise Pettus or perhaps his Knox wife was the relation. And, then again he reportedly came from, or perhaps just came through, Lancaster Co PA, certainly in the right place and time, to be a contemporary of "later Colonel" Alexander McKee.
This Alexander McKee was a well-to-do man and owned several lots in the early village of Charlotte. He apparently was a merchant and was listed in accounts where people had left debts to be paid out of estates.
Records are sparse on him and his children.I have been surprised that no descendant seems to have come forth from all the children he left.
