I have bought a home in a historical district in Hamilton, Ohio. The home was built by John McKee circa 1870.He was the postmaster here in Hamilton at the time. I found out 2 weeks before we closed, on the purchase of this home, that John McKee is several greatgrandfathers back on my mothers side.We have no true history of this man.Documents have been lost in fires etc.Story of him as pasted down was, he served in the civil war and was wounded to return home (Ky.?) then moved to Hamilton, Ohio. He received $ for being injured in the war by the government, which he returned because he believed his duty was finished and he didn't deserve injury pay.He became a prominent member in Hamilton.Rumor is his wife left him and then he just dissappears. Any idea who this man is? I have a picture of an incredibly handsome man but am not sure if it is John or a son. Any ideas or connections please let me know. Thanks!
