Thanks for information. I think with most people the pronouncation of the name gets distorted over generations, even the spelling. I have been researching my families earliest recorded excistance in Toronto via the City Directories and the spelling changed from year to year although the address remained the same. How I have been taught by my parents to say my last name is "mick" "quin" and yes I have had people spell my name McEwan, McQuin and get this I even had someone spell it McCowan, what is with that. We know that my ancestors are from Ireland but where we don't know exactly where as our search ends at my great great grandfather John L. McKeown born 1833 near Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I have been to Ireland as I have cousins who live in Dublin, and while visiting them, we went to Galway, Aughrim (Wicklow), and Carlow. While in Galway we took a bus trip to Doolin, Cliffs of Hoher and the Awee Caves.
