My dad passed away recently and at his funeral I was told he had a cousin Moses McKinlay who came from Northern Ireland. I am unsure of Moses birth year.
My Great Gran was Margaret Colhoun, born in 1884. Her father was Joseph Colhoun and mother, Mary McKelvie. I believe she was more than likely born around Omagh. My Great Gran married Patrick Walsh, a soldier in the Inniskilling Fusiliers. She was widowed around 1918 and eventually settled in Scotland and married again to Michael McCue.
I believe Moses McKinlay is likely to be the son of one of my Great Gran's sisters.
I'd be grateful if anyone could tell me if they know of a connection between a Colhoun and a McKinlay, or possibly a Walsh.
I've been trying to research this side of my family for years with very little luck. I hope someone can help.
