Sue Ellen,

I am the son of George W. McLelland and grew up around Crestview/Ft Waldon Fl. area. I now live in Dallas.

I do have some info on Doc McLelland:

He was born in 1824 in North Carolina
He died in 1901 at Red Level Alabama

Married Elizabeth Lambert

"Dock" was listed in the 1880 Covington, Co. Al. census and stated his father was born in Scotland and his mother was born in NC.

It is said that he and his widowed mother
(I don't have a name) came to Al. with a Parker family who his mother married into.

He is first listed in the 1850 census of Coffee Co, Al.He was a member of the Covington Co malitia during the Cival War along with his son Ethermore.

I found this info on the E'net posted by David McLelland.

The old family bible I have shows Safronia Turner has a brothr Jimmy and sister Ellen.

It also shows her mother was Elizabeth (no last name) and father was Jimmy Dreaing.

That is all I have at this point---hope it helps.

George McLelland
