Walter:
We may be just "whistling Dixie" here;James Macklemore wrote his will in 1733, and in it he refers to his daughter as "Margeryu Macklemore" - i.e., by her maiden name - so it is probable that she was not married at that time. However, at that time she was between 21 and 38 years old, probably closer to the latter than to the former, so there is a legitimate question as to whether she EVER MARRIED.I suppose there is still a chance that she married later after her father's death, but there is no way of knowing, and her subsequent appearance in the records as Margery ____________ (Doyle, or anything else) would not likely identify her as the daughter of James Macklemore, and there would likely be no way of proving that such a spouse named Margery was in fact James' daughter (even if she was).
Your research has certainly opened up some interesting speculation, but for most McLemore researchers interested in the surname further down the line, it is at best a side issue of limited interest, and would be of interest solely to an investigator of the family of her married surname.A lot of people are in that same boat, as most descndants of early McLemores probably claim through a McLemore female, but one this early (the original immigrant's daughter) would give the researcher only limited contact with the McLemore family.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
Jim McLemore
