I am not a genealogy buff, but I cam across your page and might be helpful in some way. My grandfather, Dewey McLin, is from the midwest and currently lives in Indiana. I have an old pocket watch handed down through several generations and I believe one of the names (His or great grandfather or such, perhaps?) engraved on it was "John Dewey McLin". If this information could be useful to you or you would like me to look into it further, let me know and I'll see what I can find out.
