"My" Alexander (there are so many of them and all with no middle initial) came from Isle of Skye. A clan map shows them on the most northwest corner of the Isle. He died and his widow Margaret with her children (one was named Donald and one was named Alexander, (no middle initial)came over on the boat with her brother-in-law to the Cape Fear area of N.C.Then, we get to the point of who my g-g-grand Alexander married. one source says Flora. Another contends that he married Margaret but the years don't gibe.I am 99% sure that they are confusing wife with mother. His son was a Donald who had a son Alexander P. and a son Joseph and a son named Donald (my grandfather) who then had 4 sons and named one of them Alexander Ferguson (my father). My father and an uncle named their sons Donald but with a different middle initial. My brother, not knowing this tradition, named his son James Russell but James decided to name his son Alexander, and so we have another generation of Alexander. Neither my grandfather nor my father nor my uncles believed in communicating family history. So, I am trying to prove each fact as I uncover it to be sure I have the correct family; and you McQueen researchers have been most helpful. Thank you.
