Hi Ray and everyone
I live in Berkshire UK.My wife found this site and passed it on to me.
I am at present doing research into my family origins and started with a Scots Origin website as my father was born in Dumbarton. My grandfather was born in Carrickfergus Northern Ireland in 1894 and that is my next port of call to gather information. However, while looking on the Scots site I found a Margarat (spelt that way) McQuilken who married a John Blew in Campletown in 1752,but there is no record of her birth or death. This is the earliest record of a McQuilken/McQuilkin I have found so far.Maybe the Irish records will be more fruitful, but all census records for 1861-1891 were destroyed by the Government and only a few sections of census returns for 1821-1851 survived the fire of 1922.This will make any research very difficult but can keep you posted of any developements.
Kind regards
John McQuilkin.
