Hi Paul, I have six children born to Daniel/Donald Black and Jane McCurdy.
I knew that Mary Ann Black married John A. Morton, originally of Bushmills (I believe) but didn't have any of their children.
Do you have any information on Mary Ann's siblings?
Daniel born 17th June 1866
William 20th Dec 1870 (Born Diamond, Ballycastle)
John 5th Sep 1873 (Chapel Lane, Ballycastle)
Alexander 12th Aug 1874 (Quay, Ballycastle [poor Jane 11 months between births but see below])
Margaret 25th Oct 1878 (Quay, Ballycastle)
All these were registered births but a wee tip. Registered births can be MONTHS out, post 1864 Catholic Baptism records can be much more accurate. Births cost a small fortune to report and fines were levied for late registrations. Many folk, particularly in poorer rural areas, simply couldn't afford to register on time so they saved up and registered sometimes months after, giving a date under 21 days before the registration to avoid the fine. Catholic babies tend to be Baptised in the first couple of weeks so these records can be more accurate.
I found this out by accident when I found someone who was positively the correct person but was BORN over six months after being Baptised!!
