This is really an eeery coincidence.Last night as I was trying to research this McQuiston surname I kept feeling that I had seen this name before some years ago in my research.I went back to an old program of Family Tree Maker that I have and went to the Index to search, and lo and behold there it was!!- McQUESTEN, John Lund - He was born Nov. 24, 1845 where I don't know, but certainly in New England, either ME, NH or MA would be my guesses, and he married into my Nana's family who were from Harpswell, Cumberland Co., ME. This area of ME (Brunswick, Topsham, Harpswell and Freeport) were huge areas of settlement for the Ulter-Scots. I have Numerous numbers of them in my family tree but never in my wildest dreams did I think I would have a link to my Nana's family through this McQuesten surname.
Now I have the Moody - McCuiston (various spellings) link through DNA as well.
Does anyone here know who the Parents are of this John Lund (or is it LUNT which is more common name in New England?) McQUESTEN b. 1845? John and Wealthy "Netty" had at least 2 known children, a son Ralph Herbert McQuesten b. 1875 and a daughter Mary Elizabeth McQuesten b. 1879. Robert died in 1876 and Mary married Clinton Tuttle FISHER in 1899. Clinton and Mary appear to have lived in Watertown, MA.
When I looked up this McQuesten family line at Ancestry last night, I noticed LOTS of family connections to my own Family Tree from the various lines within this family. It appears that some parts of the McQuesten family landed in New England ports from Ireland and others headed South. Surely the families were linked somehow and this makes me wonder if they ever found each other once they were in America.I wonder if they ever knew what happened to each other?
If anyone has the Parents of this John Lund McQuesten I would be most greatful for any info.
