Robert Mcshane, Jr. son of Robert and Mary Mcshane brn. 1883 Jo Robert McShane was my Grandfather, Hugh McShanes older Brother. What I know at this point is that Robert and Mary McShane had 15 Children.Robert came into the US from Ireland via Canada. He landed in NY.That is where he met Mary.Mary's Parents were born in France and Bavaria respectively. Son Robert was living in Carroll County Arkansas when the 1900 census was taken. His Father was mining and they lived there for some time.Hugh McShane came out west on a wagon train with his father mine speculating. He fell in love with the West and after returning home to AK he ran away back to Washington State.Hi father made the journey to come bring him home.He ran away for a final time.He married a "half -breed" my grandmother Sadie Nee.Hugh and Sadie McShane had six daughter, Rose, Virginia, Alice, Kathleen, Colleen and my mom Patricia.Hugh McShane became a well know Cowboy promoter and Western Rodeo person.Hugh and Sadie owned a hotel and small store in Keller Washington.Hugh McShane is know to have started the Salmon Days Rodeo where the now famous stampede started. The stamped I refer to is the OMAK stampede and suicide race started in Keller Washington.Hugh did not have much to do with his family back East.My mom would tell me that her dad talked alot about Teddy, or his little brother Theodore McShane and every so often some type of expensive or elaborate gift would show up at the Hotel but my mom felt that when Hugh ran away and married and Indian that his family was not too happy about it. I would love to have any more information about this strand of the McShane family tree.
