Hello: This was posted on the Keenan family site. Since Patrick discovered that I grew up in Rochester NY he had some questions re: a McShae farm. Here you go. Hope you two can make a connection. Best regards from Western NY Chuck Keenan Charles,
You mentioned that your family is from the Rochester NY area. I wonder if you could help me with a question I have about part of my family.
I am trying to tract down McShea family information in the Rochester area
As a young kid I lived in Lancaster NY outside of Buffalo. We often visited a farm in the Rochester area with a family name of McShea. It was located on Dewey ave. It is my understanding that my family was related to them. My father, Frank S Keenan, had a plaque from the Rochester Pioneer Committee dated May 1st 1934. He was sponsored by Michael McShea. Ed McShea ran the farm and two sisters and his mother lived in the main house. It is my understanding that one of the brothers homesteaded in the Dakotas, and a daughter (?) moved from there to Omaha Neb married to a Patrick Keenan. This is where my family originated from.
When I was still young we moved from New York to Pennsylvania and I lost touch with the McShea family.
I went to Rochester about 15+ years ago and tried to find where the farm was and as near as I can figure out there are hundreds of houses where the farm used to exist.
Are you familiar with this family or know of McShea families in this area?
