John L. Carr had Mary Lavinia (Carpenter) Meagher and her son, Gerard Clarence Meagher exhumed from the Winans Vault and re-interred in the St. Helena Public Cemetery. Helen Meagher Carr is the niece of Gerard Clarence Meagher, and John L. Carr is the Grand nephew of Gerard Clarence Meagher.
Joseph Webb Winans is my cousin, he m. Sara Adelaide Badlam, niece of Samuel Brannan. I am not related to Meagher.
Calistoga, Napa Co., CA Winans Vault was built on the property of Samuel Brannan in 1870 from stone brought from China by Joseph Webb Winans. In 1913 the City of Calistoga passed an ordinance prohibiting housing of non-cremated remains above ground. Records of the St. Helena Public Cemetery Association show that in June, 1913, and Sept of 1919, the remains of ten individuals were removed from the Winans Vault and re-interred in the St Helena Cemetery.
