Lyn:You are the first contact I have located for my great-grandfather's two full siblings, William and George and by my reckoning we are cousins--your great-granddad William Baltzell Pattison was my great-great uncle (my grandfather's uncle) My great-grandfather was Frank Wyatt Pattison, born Baltimore Feb. 1 1865 (I think that is correct date)youngest son of George R. Pattison, born October 16 1840 in Baltimore and Susan Hazzard Meares.I have her birthdate somewhere at home (I'm at office) and she died in 1866 in Northern Louisiana, but no one on my side knows where she is buried. In fact, I only learned her name when I stumbled across a half-cousin of mine on the Internet, Robert Charles pattison, who is a descendant of the second family of George R. Pattison, our common ancestor.Do you knw where Susan is buried or anything at all about her?I have some info about George R. that I will be happy to share with you.
Frank Wyatt Pattison married Susan Alice Tatum, born 1868 in Louisiana, in 1886.They had a lot of children--nine, of whom seven survived childhood.Eldest was Wyatt Pattison, born 1888, died 1965.My grandfather, Roy Pattison, was the second eldest, born October 1889 in Mitchell, Louisiana. He died in October 1970 in Houston, Texas. He had brothers George Meares (died 1932), Guffy (died 1916) and Charles (born 1907, died 1981)His sisters, Lily and Leba, were well known to me, and Leba, his last sibling, died in the early 90's--a long-lived bunch. His wife was Lillian Lea Rembert, born Oct. 1897 in Mitchell, La., died October 1994 in Houston. They had one child, my father, Roy Pattison, Jr., born September 17,1921 in Mitchell, Louisiana and he is still alive and living in Sugarland, Texas with his second wife, Martha.I am the oldest son of Roy and Marilyn Eldridge, my mother, and was born June 3, 1953 in Houston.I have an older sister Janice Moore born in Houston Sept. 11 1951 and a younger brother Brian born April 3, 1968 Corpus Christi, Texas. My mother died in Corpus Christi in 1969.I am married to Carolyn Johnson since 1982 and have three children, Joel Stephen born 6/10/86 in Washington DC, Aaron Charles named after my great-uncle Charles, youngest child of Frank and Alice, born 7/21/88 Wash.DC, and Charlotte McCall Pattison, born 4/20/91 Bangkok, Thailand.I work for the State Department as a Foreign Service Officer and at present am Consul General at the US Embassy in Bucharest, Romania.
I have many questions about Susan, her family, and your great-grandfather Wiilliam Baltzell. My grandfather never mentioned his uncles to me--I do know that his grandfather George remarried Fredonia Jackson after Susan died and had several more children (have info on them at home).I don't know for certain but always thought that there must have been some distance or bad blood between George's two groups of siblings. I do know that my grandfather never spoke of his grandmother Susan and my dad didn't even know her name.I have also been told that there was a direct Pattison connection involving our line in George West, Texas and in Pattison,a small town near Houston--my dad thinks some of George R's siblings or uncles might have settled either place.Anything you could tell me about George's first family and marriage would be new info. Also interest to know if you have any photos of George and his first three children.A Number of folks in my direct line are looking for Susan's burial location and info about her.I do have some obscure Baltimore cnsus info about George and siblings and believe that his mother was named Anne and she was born in Maryland. I have always been told that Pattison's came from England, but no idea where or when. They were in Baltimore by 1830s.I am eager to learn more about Frank's two brothers and what became of them.Best to contact me directly at work at firstname.lastname@example.org or at home at email@example.com.Look forward to hearing more from you. Will be back in Texas this summer to see my dad, he will be very interested to hear what you know.Regards, Steve Pattison
