Hello Peter, I'm afraid I know very little and have taken a bit of a leap of faith with one ancestr soI don't know if you can tell me more. My great great grandfather, George Green (b1837) married an Emma Louise, born in Enfield in 1843, though I don't have her maiden name. They are noted as living at 'Medcalf Farm' in the 1861 Census.Going back, an Emma Louise Medcalf was living at home in Enfield Lock with Benjamin and Louise Medcalf in the 1851 and 1841 censuses, though not noted as Medcalf Farm, but I have no direct proof that this is the same person. However, the names they give their subsequent children leads me to believe this must be the same Emma Louise, and the date of birth is right.
The only other information I have is that both Benjamin and his father Thomas Medcalf were toll collectors on the Lock in 1840-41. Thomas may have been born around 1776, started off as a grocer in London and possibly married to a Sarah Martin at some point.
