Hi Bob, I spotted your article about the Medlars today while surfing, and felt I should inform you that there is a section of the family on this side of the pond. I can only go back to my Grandfather Charles Medlar who I think was born in Norfolk, or possibly County Durham. He married Annie Leight from Chester-le-Street in County Durham. He and Annie produced 3 (three) sons, Samuel,Charles and James, whilst resident in Norfolk. I do know that my grandfather spent time in Colorado during the early part of last century panning for gold,so have to assume that at sometime in his youth he had gained some experience of mining. Unfortunately all the sons are now no longer with us having passed away. There is however,Tony,my brother, and 2 male cousins, Micheal and Keith who are possibly still resident in Norfolk. There are 2 girls who are both married, and have obviously changed their names to those of their respective husbands. Samuel and Peggie are the parents of the two girls, Charles and Eliza are Tony and my parents and James and Peggy were the parents of Micheal and Keith. I was amazed to see that thre are so many Medlars around the globe, and surprised as to the origins of the family.
