At last I found the booklet that Moore County historian and Mal Lee Medlin put together on the Medlin Familiy of Moore County, North Carolina. According to their research of my Medlin family, my great grandfather, James Ander Medlin was the son of, Benjamin Medlin and Betty Estes. Soe have used the spelling "Estrige" but it was indeed "Estes". She was the daughter of William Estes of Old Moore County, now Lee County. Benjamin Medlin and Betty Estes-Medlin also had a daughter named Alice. She married a Crutchfield. They had three sons that are spoken of; James Ander Medlin, my great grandfather, who married first, great grandmother, Lela Stewart. After bearing children on twelve different times and one of them a set of twins, great grandmother died in Lee County, NC.,... Grandfather would then marry a little while later the widow, Zeda Graham. I met Zeda before her death at the Convalescent Home she was living at. I knew one of her sons, Calvin Graham very well although he was a lot older. Grandfather went by the name Jim Medlin. He had a brother named, William Robert Medlin that married Carrie Lynn Porter. He went by the name, Bill. I heard my mother and her aunts talk often of Uncle Bill Medlin. As a matter of fact Bill and Carrie were the parents of Mal Lee Medlin, researcher and publisher of this booklet. The last brother was Uncle Chester Horner Medlin, known as Uncle Chess...I remember the edlin Reunions we use to have at the Tramway Comunity Center when I was a boy. The daily Sanford newspaper would send out a photographer to take pictures of the whole family in a group shot. That was back in the year 1961-62. I was only eight-or-nine years old thn. I sure wish I had listen more at those reunions. I do remember that Mal Lee would tell of one of our great uncles or grandfathers who remarried a woman who had children. Not long after marrying her, he ran away to Georgia or out west with her daughter...his stepdaughter and never came back. Don't that put the icing on the cake. I didn't say they were perfect..just family! Anyone knows anymore about this particular line please drop me a line. Would love to hear from you.
