[NOTE: His grave marker in the Leiters Ford I.O.O.F. cem reads: Perry Mehrling, Sep 14, 1822 - May 10, 1906. Perry Mehrling (ae 47) and his wife, Julia A. (ae 40) and child Perry, were residents of Rochester city in 1870. In 1880 he was a boarder of Wallace House, and was divorced. (See Census)

Perry MEHRLING, who for thirty seven years lived in the old Cornelius block on north Main street and who has been an inmate of the County Infirmary for the past three years died at that institution early this morning after many months of illness. He was about eighty years of age. He was a brother of Mrs. James H. NAFE and William MEHRLING, both of near Leiters. The funeral will be held at Leiters. (THURSDAY

James H. NAFE, 79, a prominent farmer living near Germany, died Thursday night about twelve o'clock after a long illness caused by kidney trouble. Funeral Sunday afternoon at the farm home.
James Nafe was born in Pennsylvania, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John NAFE. In 1852, he moved to this county and 55 years ago was married and since then resided on the farm where he died. Mr. and Mrs. Nafe were the parents of six children and four sons are living, Clyde [NAFE] of Texas, Charles [NAFE] of Chicago, Eugene [NAFE] and Earl NAFE who live near Germany. Mr. Nafe leaves two brothers, Jonathan [NAFE] of Chicago and David [NAFE], who lives in Florida.
Mr. Nafe took an active interest in the community where he resided and all of his life was a staunch supporter of the democratic party. He was a member of the Adventist church.

DIED - Grandma Mary MERLING died at the residence of Mr. James H. NAFE Monday, aged 86 years. The funeral takes place at two p.m. today at Leiters Ford church, and the remains will be buried at the cemetery near by.

Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth NAFE, 93, practically a life long resident of the Loyal community and one of the oldest pioneers of Fulton County, died Tuesday evening at 5:45 in the home of her son, Earl NAFE, west of Rochester. Death followed an illness of one week with pneumonia
The deceased was born in Sandusky County, Ohio on November fourth, 1837, the daughter of Peter and Mary MEHRLING, and came to Fulton County when only 12 years of age. On April 19, 1860 she was married to James H. NAFE, the ceremony being performed at the home of her parents northwest of Leiters Ford. Mr. Nafe passed away on July 8th, 1915. Mrs. Nafe was always very active and took an interest of all the affairs of the community in which she lived so long. She was a member of the Advent Church.
Surviving are four sons, Clyde [NAFE], of El Paso, Texas, Charles A. [NAFE], of Chicago, Eugene [NAFE] and Earl [NAFE], west of Rochester, 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Nave. Burial will be made in the Leiters Ford cemetery
