Dear Carol, I have learned a bit more about the family since that post way back in April of 2003.See if the following helps you:
I don't know exactly when Martin and Phillimina came to the US but it was around or before 1894.They were married at least by late 1894 because Louis was born in the US, in Ohio by May 7, 1895.The Meiers apparently changed the spelling of their name in the US, because Louis is recorded as MYERS, not Meier.Martin and Phillimina Meier had five children:Louis Henry (b. May 7, 1895, Akron, OH; d. April 27, 1954, Akron, OH), Alvin, Martin Jr., William, Edward, and a sixth child whose name is unkown.
Louis Henry Myers married Nellie Ellen CUMMINGS, prior to late 1929.Nellie b. May 28, 1899, Lanarkshire, Scotland; d. Oct 15, 1980, Cuyahoga Falls, OH.She had immigrated the US by 1915.Louis and Nellie had six children: Nellie, Evelyn Louise, Ellen Hannah, Eleanor Bernadine, Louis Matthew, and Robert Alexander.
Their daughter Nellie married into the LIND family ofthe Indiana/Ohio/Kentucky area on March 30, 1952.
I have documentation on Louis and Nellie Myers? family in the US, on Nellie's Scottish parents, and very good documentation after she married Thomas David. They are both still alive, and recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. They have five children.
