Tammy, I am the Mary who has posted responses on other message boards in your search.I checked your postings history, hoping that you had found more information. While I was trying to see what I could find I came across something that is not conclusive, but is interesting.
I had done a Google Search for Carl Meinke and came across a link to an obscure newspaper item:
Lawrence (Douglas Co. KS) Dailey Journal, June 2, 1964
“Mrs. Elsie Meinke from Venice, California is visiting relatives here this week. She has been at the Carl Meinke home in Pineville, MO helping take care of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Harriett Meinke”
Find a grave has a photo of the double tombstone for this couple, Carl A. Meinke and Harriett E. Meinke, buried Lenape, Leavenworth Co. KS.Harriett died in 1964, but Carl Meinke lived several more years. He died in 1981.
I remembered that your great grandmother had been in Pineville, MO.This might be the Carl Meinke who was her 3rd husband.
I did not find your ggrandmother’s name on the long list of burials in Baxter Springs, KS, but I don’t know whether the listings are complete.
Here is an interesting Findagrave entry:
Mt. Sidney Cemetery, Linwood, Leavenworth Co. KS.
Helen E. Meinke, b. 28 Oct. 1898, d. Sep 1, 1975.
In looking at a map, Linwood is near Lenape.I know the date of birth doesn’t fit the census record that was found, but it is closer to the date that you first had. This is probably only coincidence, but is information to be held until something more comes along.
I hope that a Meinke researcher will read these posts and make a connection.I do think you are getting closer to findingyour ggrandmother.
