This is my first time here. And You have a suject of great interest. I am in Louisiana.
My Grandfather C.J. Melders' third wife;who we called Aunt Lola. Told me a story of three brothers that were run out of Belgium for trying to over throw the govenerment and set up a democracy. Two landed in New Orleans. I assumed all three had come to America. Until my younger brother, who was on his way back to the States from a job in South Africa. Was detainded by the security people in the Charles DeGualle Airport. His papers were taken from him ( needless to say he was very upset having no idea what was going on)The gentleman that took his papers repeatly asked him if he was sure that his name was Melder. And if his papers were in order. But the main question that he was asked over and over, was he sure that he was R.L. Melder. He was escorted to an officeand waited .The first gentleman came in with another man . His boss and the second gentleman waited to be informed as to why R.L.was in his office. The first man handed him R.L's papers and that this was R.L. Melder from the United States of America. It was then that my brother noticed the name tag on the second mans shirt. It was Melder. He wasfrom Sri Lanka and he told the same story to R.L. as Aunt Lola had told me. That his Grandfatheror great grandfather was one of three brothers ETC ETC.Hehad been seperatd from his brothers and landed in Sri LankaHe never knew what had happened to his brothers after they left Bulgium. R.L. is the first perosn of his family that he ahd ever meet and they shared famuily until R.L.s plane was to leave. I recieved a call at 3:00 A.M. from a very upset and excited younger brother, because of what he had been thorugh yet very thankful that I had shared the story with him.He and this cousin became fast friends and visited very time he went through Paris on his way home. Unfortuantely, He did not tell me his name and would not let me contact him because his background would not allow him to discuss things with women. Shortly after that R.L. was transferred back to the States and I have no idea if he has knows how to reach him. If you have that Gentlemans name I would like to have it. If you don't I will gladlyask my brothr. I have been busy with other things and . Made anote about it and filed it awyfor future use. Until I saw you message tonight.I velieve this was in 2002, I am not sure of teh date at this time.
