Jane Carson Allen, also b.about 1824 in Virginia They were wed about 1842 or 1843. and moved to Meigs County, Tennessee, where they had several children: Uriah Cooper Melton,b.1844,Meigs County,Tn., near Decatur;Robert I.(?Isaac?) Melton,b.1846, Meigs Co.,Tn.; John Melton,b.1848,Meigs Co.; Margaret A.Melton,b.1849,Meigs Co.;Thomas Duggan Melton (my great grandfather)b.1854,Meigs Co.; Thomas O.Melton,b.1856,Meigs Co.;Sara (middle initial A.or E.)Melton,b.1857,Meigs Co.; Elinor L.Melton,b.1860,Meigs Co.;and James F.(?Franklin?) Melton,b.1863,Meigs Co.My grandfather was Lonnie Thomas Melton,b.about 1897 or 1898, Meigs Co., and he had two sisters, one of which was also named Sara.I don't know if you are sure of your dates or if any of this information fits with any history you might have.
