What I can tell you is that I find that it is the methodist (sp?) church that tend to be in favor of treating all people equal early on with no race barrier.
Our area was methodist and then baptist moved in and our church records from the earlier 1800's they were like the puritans. 1/2 my or more family left church and never went back. In our baptist church they were not permitted to dance or play a musical instrument, We were only permitted to sing gospel hyms. People were getting kicked out of church for the most rediculous things. One of our Ray cousins got kicked outfor dancing. They were nuts!
I would think that finding an African Slave owner or a Jewish one would be far and few. And yes churches did burn down and im sure temples too. It would havebeen hard to openly pratice the Jewish faith. it still is today in some of the very isolite areas in the Mountains. It's only in the bigger cities that you will find temples
