I am researching the Sephardi Jewish Mendoza family. Branches of this family settled in Amsterdam, London, Tunis, Alexandria, Poland and other places.
It is possible the family was living in Portugal in the 16th Century. In 17th Century some family members were living in the Seville, Cadiz and Malaga area of southern Spain. Some family members settled in Madrid. The family were possibly cloth traders and doctors.
I am especially interested to locate descendents of the Mendoza Rodriguez branch who were arrested by the Inquisition in Granatula, near Cuidad Real, in 1722, and presumably remained as Catholics in Spain. Francisco and Leonor Mendoza Rodriguez were traders in lace and fabrics, and are reported to have had eight children.
I am part of a network of people researching the family, and would be interested to hear from others.
