I am a decendant of Geronimo Marquez and Ana Mendoza. I dont know that much about the pair, but Iwill give you what I do know.If you have found out any more on them, please send it to me.thanks.
Here it is:
Geronimo Marquez was Maese de Campo (Camp Commander) of the troops which joined Oñate in 1600. He was 40 years old, native of Sanlucar de Barrameda and the son of Hernan Munoz Zamborano. He was described as swarthy, black bearded. In the Puana muster roll of 1597 he had the rank of Captain of Artillery. With him came his wife and 5 sons. His names runs through all the Oñate annals as an adventurous leader. He was exiled from Mexico, but he returned (if sentence was ever carried out). His wife's name was not known. His son Diego was accused as a major accomplice in the death of Governor Rosas and Diego was beheaded in 1643. His widow Bernardina Vasquez was living on the farm (estancia) in 1660. Daughter Catalina married Diego Trujillo.
Uncertain as to whether this is the wife of Geronimo Marquez. She is the niece of Don Fernando de Onate and 1st cousin of Francisco de Zaldivar
