Thank you Ann
checking 'smgf', I've an exact female mt-DNA match with Helena GOERTZEN b. 18 Jul 1899 Manitoba, Canada, going back to Sara NEUFELD b.2 Oct 1762 Tiergenhof, West Prussia,
and close matches to many other Mennonite families at 'smgf'.
As mentioned, my earliest female ancestor is Alice MANSELL c.mid-16thC at Little Bourton, Oxfordshire, England
It may be that the MANSELL family were 11thC Normans from 'Le Mans' in France, also Templar Knights.
I understand the US ex-First Lady, Hillary Rodham CLINTON, has almost identical DNA to my mt-DNA haplogroup, and therefore the Mennonites, also; her ancestors are said to be linked back to France.
I see the 15thC Mennonite religion was founded by Menno Simons from Friesland ... many French Normans came from that area as they were originally Vikings incl. Danes, Friesians and Germans. It makes sense that French Normans may have included ancestors of Menno Simon's family.
btw My female line were all Baptists, but no AnaBaptists in the family.
Kind regards
William
