Good Afternoon Michael,
I'm not sure if you have this information already or not, but here is some of what I've been able to find...
1880 Census of Shirley, Piscataquis, Maine
In the household of Johnathan H. Kelley (a farmer)there was a John & Isabel Meservey with their two sons, LaForest (age 3) & Elory (age 1).John, born circa 1850, was a laborer while Isabel, born circa 1856, was keeping house.
Do you have some idea as to when Leslie was born or where? From past experience, I've seen cases where either names/birthdates taken by census takers were inaccurate.Further, family members change their names or simply go by others as time passes. An excellent example is that I found a death record for Ellery (not Elory) Meservey who was born April 4, 1879 had died in December 1969.
There's a record for a John Deering Meservey born March 1, 1850 in Hallowell, Kennebec, Maine. He was the son of Clement & Olive Meservey. This may be the same John, but it would be a good idea to find some supporting evidence before saying it actually was.
Isabelle Edith Littlefield was born October 12, 1856 in Shirley, Piscataquis, Maine. She was the daughter of Alva & Susan (Green) Littlefield. She married John Meservey and died in 1926.
I will post additional information as time permits or you are welcome to contact me directly at [email protected] .
Matthew
