Here is what I have for Philip Jacob Michael. In summary, I have found evidence to support two marriages, one to a Mary, with five children born in Loudoun County, VA, and a second, and later marriage, to a Catherine in Allegany County, MD.I found it unusual to have two daughters both named Mary (Mary b. 1766 and Mary Anne b. 1772)--does anyone have an explanation ?Also, does anyone have any primary source evidence (a deed, birth certificate, obituary, etc., etc.) to show that there was a wife named Anna Margaretta, or that Philip had more or different children from the ones I have listed below?

PHILIP MICHAEL (1736-1822)- Pvt. Pennsylvania. His wife, Catherine, is buried in the old Jacobs Cemetery above Barton. We believe he is also buried here. She died7/31/1813. He has been joined on according to the D.A.R. Patriot Index. (from http://midatlantic.rootsweb.com/MD/garrett/revwarvets.htmlhttp://midatlantic.rootsweb.com/MD/garrett/revwarvets.html)
This tombstone inscription indicates that Catherine lived from March 21, 1773 to July 31, 1813.This means, assuming she was married and bearing children at a relatively young age (let's say 14), that her oldest child would be born no earlier than 1787--much too late to be even William (the youngest, b. 1775)'s mother.
I have found ANOTHER Philip Jacob Michael, who was a German preacher living in eastern Pennsylvania, that could be the source for the conflicting information about our Philip of Allegany County. This Rev. Philip Jacob Michael lived from 1716 to 1786.On May 17, 1777, he was appointed chaplain of the 1st Battalion of the Militia of Berks County, PA.This could explain the Garrett County, MD historical society information that Philip Michael was from Pennsylvania and fought in the American Revolution for that state. The following URLS about this Rev. Michael were accessible in July 2002.
I have found these article titles that seem to be related to Philip Michael of Allegany, MD.Does anyone have access to these documents?
