Hello Greg. We are related. I actually traced the entire Michael line to a German man with the variant surname of "Michel" His descendants entered through PA, and spread all throughout the United States. I'm not sure who made up the McMichael/MacMichael story, but it's certainly untrue. I even ordered a Y-DNA test kit for a male Michael relative, and his DNA mutations matched up with other men who had variants of his surname. A few of these men were descended from Peter Michael and Elizabeth Engel. Remarkably, I was not only able to discover that our Michael line is genetically connected to present day Michels in the Palatinate area of Germany, but also that we have numerous male-linked cousins from England, Scandinavia, Germany, and even one from Greece. Also, the Michael's ancient prehistoric ancestors settled Europe before any other ancient migrations.
