There were at least 3 Elizabeths who married into the Michael Family of Augusta County, VA. I'm seeking any help in firmly establishing their maiden surnames (and ancestry if possible) using primary source documents.
Based on his will (recorded in Augusta Co, VA), we know that Frederick Michael, b. abt. 1730, and d. bef. 29 May 1798 in Augusta Co, VA, married an Elizabeth. Some say her maiden surname was Fundnerin, others Addison. Can anyone suggest a primary source that shines any light on her maiden surname?
It's stated frequently on the Web that their son, John Michael, b. abt. 1760 in Pennsylvania or Virginia, d. 23 Oct. 1841 in Clinton Co, IN, married an Elizabeth in abt. 1780. Some say her maiden surname was Williams. Can anyone suggest a primary source that identifies her maiden surname?
Finally, based on the 1860 census data for Pendleton Co, VA, their son (& Frederick's grandson), John Michael, Jr., b. 1790 in Augusta Co, VA, d. 1866, married an Elizabeth. Her maiden name may have been Weaver. Once again, can anyone suggest a primary source that identifies her maiden surname?
