Hi Linda, I think this is the couple you are interested in.
Richard Millerchip married Elizabeth Barkbey 4/6/1787 at Exhall which is a parish next to Bedworth. From my notes I have them with shildren,Thomas bt 9/9/1787; Amy bt 9/8/1789; Elizabeth bt 31/3/1793; Ann bt 2/10/1796 and another Elizabeth bt 17/11/1798.
I have these from the registers. I also have burials of Amy 4/12/1791 and the first Elizabeth 9/10/1794.
I'm not absolutely sure of Richard's parents, but I THINK they could be the Job and Elizabeth who were married? in Broseley SHR about 1760. They had a son John Born in Broseley 1763 and then Richard born in Bedworth 1765. There is a settlement certificate for this Job in Warwick Records Office. Broseley registers are fairly complete on the IGI but I could not find their marriage and I looked at a transcription
4 brothers, theMillerchips came to the Foleshill, Bedworth area from Broseley in the mid 1700s. They were specialist miners. Most of the Bedworth Millerchips moved around 1800 to the Black Country as new coal and iron mines were opened there, and the name changed to Millership. Originally the name was Millichap, but there are many variations.
They are a bit difficult to follow because all the families tended to use the same christian names for their children, Thomas, Richard, William and Job.
