G. Petrin - Thank you for sending me info on Joseph Minthorn. I will give you what info I have.
First of all: Don't take much notice of the Hoover book. It's so full of errors it's misleading.
Now some info: William, wife Hannah, sons John, Joseph and daughter Lucy went to Canada in 1802/3. Maybe others but not sure.
Joseph was a farmer in 1806 in Markham, Ont. Hoover book says 7 sons (?). Only have Henry b. ca 1815, Joseph, b. ca 1820.
John and Lucinda had 14 children, the first 9 born in Yonge Street: John Wesley, 1812-1901; George, 1913-?: Samuel, 1814 DY: Mary, 1815->; Nancy, 1816-?;, Theodore, 1817- 1866; William & Joseph, 1819 DY; James, 1820-?; Jane, 1825-1912; Thomas, 1829-1853, Justus, 1832-1894; Joshua 1832/34-1896; Isaac 1834/5-1926.
John and Lucinda moved to the Mariposa Wilderness in 1824, so any children born after 1824 were born in the Lindsay area.
According to the 1891 Canada Census, York, Whitchurch Township: Henry, age 76,wife Elizabeth, 74, also a Phoebe Jane, 40, widowed, Jessie, 7, granddaughter.
Henry married Elizabeth Lundy,26 June 1836, whos sister Lavina Lundy married Joseph Minthorn, Henry's brother.
Henry had probably 3 children: A son born ca 1837/8, married to Phoebe Jane ---: a daughter Eliza(beth), b 6 Feb 1841, d 13 Aug 1842, bur. Friends Cem, Whitchurch;
a daughter Elizabeth, b ca 17 Jan 1845, Markham, d. 21 Oct 1847, bur. Friends Cem, Whitchurch.
Hope this info is of some help. Bill
