I have some information on the parentage of John J. and Thomas Minyard of Tyler Co., Texas, and their sisters Harriett and Elizabeth Ann.
Their father was almost certainly Thomas Minyard (various spellings) of Muscogee and Troup Counties, Ga.
In January 1838, Elizabeth Mainard took out letters of administration on the estate of Thomas Mainard, deceased, late of Muscogee Co., Ga.; she was assisted in the administration for a time by Laban C. Pool.
On 7 Dec. 1841, the widow Elizabeth Minyard married John C. Brassill in Muscogee Co.
Property belonging to the estate in Troup Co., Ga., was sold in the 1840's by the administrator Simeon L. Smith, including a slave named Joe and 202 acres adjacent to William Kirk.
Smith was also guardian to the children and submitted guardianship accounts in Troup Co. The following children are mentioned in these accounts:
Franklin B. Mynyard Elizabeth Ann Mynyard (wife of W.H. Blake) Thomas Mynyard John J. Mynyard Harriett Mynyard William Mynyard
I have no idea what happened to Franklin B. and William Minyard, although there is some evidence that Franklin B. was in Louisiana in 1850. The fate of the rest of the children is apparently known by you.
By the way, Harriett married Thomas J. Farrow, not Fowler.
See my post entitled "The Nathaniel Maynard family of Charles City Co., VA and Jackson Co., GA" (# 3593) in the Maynard forum for a further discussion of a *possible* (not at all certain!) descent for Thomas Minyard.
