Many thanks for responding to my inquiry. Andrew Mitchell is indeed not related to Robert Mitchell and I acknowledge your bible is not the bible I am looking for.To my knowledge, the names and dates in the Mitchell bible were not recorded elsewhere. If they were, the descendants are unaware of where this info would be.If you ever run across the bible I am looking for, I would appreciate you letting me know.
I am not a Mitchell, either. My cousin married one of the last descendants in this line and they did not have children, so many Mitchell items of historical significance were left to me. I wish to find a permanent home for these items in New York so the genealogical information is most useful.
If you desire more info on your Mitchell line, you may wish to look at the Brooklyn Historical Society. www.brooklynhistory.org.They were formerly the Long Island Historical Society and they are known for their genealogical collection. You can get links to their catalogues on line. They have about 20 books, each with a Mitchell chapter. These books were not my line of Mitchells but I learned from this how manylines of Mitchells came to the colonies in the 1600s and 1700s, from England, Scotland, Ireland, etc. and settled in several of the various colonies. So there are innumerable Mitchells most of which appear unrelated. You can also access the library catalogues for the New York Historical Society online.
Again, many thanks for taking the time to reply.Best wishes,
