Good Moring, I am having trouble getting to the messages so have had to resort to a new posting. There is no mention in the 1945 old phone book of the rank of Captain for Mitchell in the revoluntionary war.
From W. Ray work I think it is possible that John Mitchell senior 1761 to 1833 dying in Robertson County TN served in the revoluntionary war. His son John junior was the right age to have served in the War of 1812.
While this is a Mitchell site families often moved in groups and I have a list of Mary Ann Mitchells possible sister in laws from Robertson County. These are as follows.
Good Morning, These ladies may be sisters of John and his brothers.
"There are four May girls who married in Robertson Co in the 1840s early 50's: 1. Mahalia May to Augustus Bryant on 23 March 1838. 2. Susan May to David V Gannans 2 Spet 1841. 3. Mary May married George T Holeman on 7 Nov 1844. 4. Martha May to Jessie Glisson on 1 Sept 1852 only thing I have been able to determine via others trees is that she died shortyly after the birth of her only child in 1859 and the Jessie died in Graves CO" This research was accomplished by my siter who has taken over the family history position in our family.
If any one has any comments on these people I would appreciate hearing from you.Mel PS I can be contacted directly at meldeshishmaref.hotmail.com as I am finding the new system at my local library has not been compatible with genforum other posting message.
