Looking for Sallie Mitchum.Born around 1889.Died before 1920.Here is what I have:
Sallie's parents were Sarah Elizabeth Childress Mitchum and James Wesley Mitchum. They are buried in Greenview Cemetery in Reidsville, NC.Sallie's daughter born in 1907 (Ila Mae Beasley) has stated that her mother died young, and that Ila barely remembered her mother.Sallie was on census record for 1910 for Reidsville with 3 year old Ila, and was living in Sallie's parents home, listed as "Sallie W. Mitchum".Father in the home was listed as Nicholas W. Mitchum, but is actually James Wesley Mitchum, as is shown on the death certs I could find of 3 of Sallie's siblings as well as listed as the spouse on Sallie's mother's death cert.I have not figured out yet the difference in the name of the father, as Nicholas is also the father listed in the 1900 census as well.Cannot find death cert for Sallie.Cannot find birth records for any of the kids.Cannot find any written record at all of Sallie's existance except for the 1900 and 1910 census records. She is dead by 1920 census. The father, James Wesley Mitchum, died in 1915.As that is about the same time, give or take a couple years, that Sallie would have died, I thought they might be in the same cemetery. They have no record of her being there.Have also searched records for "Sallie Beasley" as she was supposedly married to a Charles Beasley. The daughter, Ila Mae Beasley, states her father also died young and did not remember him at all.He does not appear on the 1910 census at all, so likely died between Ila's birth in 1907 and the census in 1910.Can find no record of a marriage for Sallie Mitchum to Charles Beasley, and Sallie is listed as a Mitchum, not a Beasley in 1910 census.Have no idea who Charles parents were.Found several Charles Beasleys and nothing to indicate which one is the right one.
Where is Sallie?Buried where?Died when?Death cert? Marriage record to Charles Beasley?Any leads would be most appreciated.
Sallie was my husband's great-grandmother.Ila Mae Beasley was his grandmother.Ila was an only child so there are no other decendants to try to trace this through. Also, Ila always claimed that when her mother Sallie died, she went to live with her Beasley grandmother on an Indian Reservation in NC.However, by the 1920 census, she is back in the home with the Mitchum family, so that did not help me in locating which Beasley family Charles belonged to.
