Barry, I can't tell you how amazed I am to finally get an answer to the mystery of the"Moak's Arm" tombstone. It has to be the most interesting one I have ever come across! What a great story! Now I have a story to put with the picture.
I found your family on page 207 of the Moak Book that my uncle Lennox wrote back in the 60's.His son Jeff is working on a new one. You will see Jeff's emails frequently on the message page.Be sure and send him an update on your family since you are a direct descendant of the Andrew Moak family. You will definitely want to be included.
I will call today to try and find about the Moak Reunion...assuming there still is one.The last I attended was in 1998 or 1999.They alternate between Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and Moak's Creek Baptist Church. It is not very well attended and usually do not last much longer than the pot-luck dinner after church. However, I love being there and several of the old homes in which my father grew up around are still standing. The cemetaries are well-kept and fairly easy to find.On an earlier visit in the early 90's I even found several of my dad's schoolmates that shared memories of him when he was young.(My dad was born in 1905.I was born in 1949.)
