Charles Nealy MOBERLY was b. N.C. in 1809, moved to Indiana with his Mother Nancy Tucker Moberly/ widow of Levan Moberly, and his sister Sarah Moberly.His sister Mary (Molly) had already m. Asa Young in N.C.
The older brother of Charles Nealy was Drury Moberly, who m. Elizabeth Henderson in Madison, KY in 1810 and they were in Montgomery Co., Indiana at this time (approx. 1827).
Charles N. Moberly married Susannah Epperson, daughter of Charles Epperson and Sarah Love Lamb on 11 Dec. 1831 in Montgomery Co., Indiana.
His sister, Sarah Moberly m. Felix Freeland. Their older brother John Tucker Moberly m. Margaret Brooks, and two of Drury's daughters (Nancy and Mary Moberly) m. Robert and Andrew Wilson while in Montgomery Co., Indiana
Charles Nealy Moberly lived most of his adult life in Iowa, found lastly Black Hawk County.
His son Sanford Cox Moberly moved to Gentry Co. in Missouri 1866.Death records show Charles Nealy Moberly died May 23, 1867 and is buried in the cemetery INSIDE the town of Stewartsville, MISSOURI, in the county of Dekalb, directly South of Gentry Co., MO.His stone marker reads "Rev. C. N. Moberly" and lacking a full name, some might have overlooked him.
The emblem at the top of his stone is an open Bible.
Marriage records show that Susan Amanda Moberly, the daughter of Charles Nealy and Susannah Epperson Moberly, was married in Dekalb Co., MO to Lemuel French Mathis June 16th, 1869 (after Charles death).
The 1870 census for Dekalb Co., MO shows widow Susannah (Susan), MOBERLY, aged 59 as head of household, with son-in-law Lemuel French, 20, his wife Susan Amanda, 16, and their one-month old son Charles, along with Mrs. Moberly's daugher Cora, who is 10.
Sanford Cox Moberly is in Gentry Co., MO in 1870, the next county N. of Dekalb, and he is 40, his wife Ruth is 35, Frank is 10, Rosa is 8, and William 4.
Lemuel French Mathis died Feb. 11, 1901 in N. Dakota.Susan Amanda moved with her entire family to Selah, Washington in 1907 where she remained until her death Jan. 16, 1953.
