I am descended from the William David Mobley family who moved to Florida in 1896. They settled in Micanopy, Alachua Co., and later in Boardman, Marion Co., FL. William David was b. 2/11/1857 in Woodward, Fairfield Co., SC and d. 2/1901 in Boardman.He m. Sarah Missouri Neil in 5/1879 in Fairfield Co., SC.Sarah Missouri Neil was b. 6/18/1855 in Winnsboro, Fairfield Co., SC and d. 9/19/1932 in Hastings, St. Johns Co., FL.
William David Mobley was the son of Robert Lafayette Mobley, b. 5/18/1825 near Feasterville, Fairfield Co., SC and d. 10/25/1898 at Woodward, Fairfield Co., SC, and Martha K. "Mattie" Dye, b. 2/15/1832 at Blackstock, Chester Co., SC and d. 8/28/1898 at Woodward. They were m. 1/15/1852 in Fairfield Co.
I can confirm all of the above but I am not sure of the following information.Can any of you researching the Mobleys of South Carolina help me?It is confusing because cousins apparently married cousins and I don't have adequate documentation for the parents of Robert Lafayette Mobley. Here is what I have:
Robert Lafayette Mobley was the son of Isham Mobley, b. abt 1785 in Craven Dist. (Fairfield Co.), SC and d. aft 1845 at Potters' Branch, Fairfield Co., SC, and Susannah Mobley, b. abt 1795 in Craven Dist., d. aft 1845 at Potters' Branch.
Isham Mobley was the son of Capt. Eleazer Mobley, b. 1750 in Lunenburg (Bedford) Co., VA, d. aft 6/19/1804 in Richmond Co., GA, and Widow Ann Liles, b. abt 1755 in VA, d. aft 1785 in Richmond Co.
Capt. Eleazer Mobley was the son of William Mobley, Sr., b. abt 1731 in MD, d. 12/20/1766 in Craven Dist. (Fairfield Co.), SC, and Ann Osborne, b. abt 1730, d. aft 1790 in Craven Dist.
Isham Mobley's wife, Susannah Mobley, was his cousin.She was the daughter of Capt. Clement Mobley, b. 10/4/1746 near Otter River, Lunenburg (Bedford) Co., VA, d. 1790 in Crawford Co., AR, and Mary Fox, b. abt 1740, d. aft 1800 in Crawford Co. Capt. Clement and William Mobley, Sr. were brothers and were two of the sons of Edward Moberley, Sr., b. 5/13/1696 in Port Tobacco, Frederick Co., MD, d. 1782 in Camden, Craven Dist. (Fairfield Co.), SC, and Susannah DeRuel, b. 1702 in VA, d. 6/14/1769 in Camden.
